Principal's Corner

Christmas 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians,

2019 has been another eventful year with lots of exciting things happening here in O Connells. With Christmas shows & carol services, art competitions, parent cookery and card making classes and not forgetting our big win in Croke Park, It has been another great year in our school. I would like to thank the staff for all the work they have done with our boys this year. I would like to wish all the staff, parents and the boys in O Connells a happy and peaceful Christmas and a joyful New Year. I look forward to seeing you all back in OCS in 2019.

Mr McHugh

Halloween 2019

It’s hard to believe we are already at the Halloween holidays. It has been a year of change here in O Connells. We said goodbye to Mr. O Keeffe as he began his retirement after 44 years of great service to our great school. We all miss Mr o Keeffe but he is still a great friend to our school and calls regularly to check on the boys and the staff. It was especially nice to see him in Croke Park with Brother Pat cheering on the OCS boys in the final on Tuesday.

I want to thank all the staff who have worked so hard in our school for our boys over the first term. Because of our staff we are able to offer the boys, not only a great education but many other great opportunities in school. We have a number of our clubs up and running now and many more will be starting after Halloween. Boys will get the opportunity to try out new sports, music, cooking, computers etc and this is all down to our staff being willing to give up their time to help run extra activities for our boys.

I also want to thank the parents who have made me feel welcome as the new principal. I have met many of you over the past eight weeks and look forward to working with you all over the coming months and years to help your son in any way we can here in O Connells.

Finally I want to thank all the boys who have worked so hard over the first term. I hope you have enjoyed the start to the new year. Well done to all the boys who have been making the right choices for their Dojo points and are well on their way to their gold medal. I want to say a special well done to the school football team, Mr Coyle, Mr King and all the other teachers who helped prepare the team over the year. It was a great day out in Croke Park last week and one that the we will never forget.

I hope you all have an enjoyable but safe Halloween. This can be a dangerous time of the year with bonfires and fireworks so please be careful. We look forward to seeing you all back in school as we get ready for all the nice things the Christmas term brings.

Mr McHugh
