Parenthetical & In-Text Citations

These are the citations you need to include in your written work. For every fact or idea that is not common knowledge you must include an in-text citation that links to your Works Cited.

Examples:

  • According to Smith, 70 percent of those surveyed responded affirmatively (215).

  • 70 percent of those surveyed responded affirmatively (Smith 215).

Remember that most databases give you a citation that you can copy and paste into your Works Cited document.
