Its leaves are made up of leaflets in the shape of fishtails. Each leaflet is triangular-shaped with a jagged leaf tip.
Flowers
The flowers are cream-coloured and grow in groups of three. Each flower can grow up to 30 cm long. The flowers are pollinated by birds.
Fruits
The fruits of the fishtail palm are round. When ripe, they turn from green to red. The seeds are eaten and dispersed by birds and small mammals such as civets and squirrels.
