The Crepe Ginger is a native of South East Asia. It is tall and can grow up to 3.1 meters! It is cultivated as a medicine to treat rash, cold, fever and asthma.
Leaves
The plant has ovate-shaped leaves with entire edges. They are arranged in a spiral manner around the stem.
Flowers
It produces white flowers with a yellow patch in the centre. The petals have a waxy texture and can grow up to 6 - 8 cm long. The flowers are pollinated by insects, such as butterflies and bees.
Fruits
It produces flat tear-drop shaped berries with many black seeds. Birds disperse the seeds when they feed on the fruits.
