Activities

Santa Visits by Boat!

One of the great memories from 2021. Thank you to the Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department. See photos

Loch Haven is enriched with many activities throughout the year that are all organized by community volunteers. Dates for these events are announced in the newsletter, via email, and on the message board inside our entrance gates. Loch Haven also has a private Facebook page. See the Calendar here

Spring and Fall Work Parties

Twice a year, all members of our community are invited to participate in the seasonal repair and clean-up of our common spaces: Beach and playground, Overlook, Pier, Right of Ways, Living Shorelines and the entire waterfront, Triangles, Ball Field and Cemetery, Entrance Gates, and Recreation Area. Groups of neighbors are dispatched in the spring to the various areas to remove winter's debris, pull weeds, mulch, plant, and repair/replace where necessary. The fall work parties remove the swim area nets and batten down the hatches for winter doing similar chores.

Easter Egg Hunt

Children can join the Easter Bunny for an Egg Hunt at our Community Rec Area on Loch Haven Road. The Egg Hunt is for children under the age of 12. Teens 13+ are encouraged to help hide the eggs. Don’t forget your baskets and cameras! Contact the Children's Committee Chair to volunteer.

Free Boat Inspection

In early June, members can have a Vessel Safety Check (VSC) done on your boat for FREE at the Marina, or by making an appointment. The service is offered by one of our Power Squadron-Certified neighbors, who issues a sticker for your boat indicating all the necessary safety equipment is on board. You are less likely to be stopped for inspection and ticketed by the DNR or Coast Guard with the sticker displayed on your windshield.

Fishing Event

The opening of Rock fishing season is an exciting time on the Chesapeake Bay every spring. Fill your boat with friends and join neighbors for bragging rights of catching the largest fish of the day.

Community Yard Sale

Take the opportunity to clean out and recycle those extra toasters, toys, gadgets and gizmos. Loch Haven's annual advertised Yard Sale, has quite a draw. Put your address on the community map that will be handed out to attendees and they will come to you.

July 4 Parade

Put your most patriotic foot forward for the judges by building a float, dressing up your bike, wagon, dog, and yourself! Parade participants line up on Bay View Point Road and the Overlook. After the parade, gather at the overlook to enjoy light refreshments.

Summer Celebration

Bring family and friends along with a side dish and join neighbors for live music, games, food and fun at the Community Beach located across the intersection of Cedar Dr. and South River Terrace. Admission includes food and beverages.

Fall Festival

Put on your Halloween costume and join your neighbors at the Rec Area on Loch Haven Road every October 31st. A tractor-pulled hayride is offered by neighbor Jim Duls. Enjoy light refreshments before heading off to trick-or-treat.

Christmas Decoration Judging

Deck your halls for the Holidays. Every year during a weekend in December, elves tour the community to find the most festive outdoor decorations. Winners are featured in the newsletter.

Santa Visits Loch Haven

Santa arrives at our Community Rec Area each December to visit with children and hear their Christmas wishes. Don't forget your cameras!

Garden Club

The Loch Haven Garden Club meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 10 am. The club offers a full program of gardening and related topics at its meetings, which are held in members' homes. In cooperation with the Loch Haven Civic Association, the club works on projects to enhance the beauty of the community. All like-minded Loch Haven gardeners are invited to join. Membership dues are $20/year. Contact Maria Stewart at 410-798-5265.

A few Loch Haven events require tickets, which can be purchased here when announced.
