Workbench Purpose
Use the Communities & Engagements workbench to review and manage your organization's community memberships and the engagements it has with each community (engagements refer to the specific licences and other legal arrangements, which your organization has entered into with the Community Sponsors).
Communities offer various products and services (Growthware) which can typically be acquired by joining such communities (it may also be subject to other conditions and requirements such as subscription fees and the periodic exchange of certain information). This workbench allows you to review the record of your organization's community memberships and associated benefits and obligations. You can also cancel community memberships (that is, you can issue cancellation notifications to terminate community memberships in accordance with the terms and conditions of the original agreement).

Foundational Concepts
About the Bizverse
The Bizverse is a controlled, Cloud-based community that allows member enterprises to collaborate and connect with partners, clients and their own people. Each participating member has its own Workspace (also referred to as a Reposistory) in the Bizverse Cloud.
About Workspaces
A Workspace is an organization-specific (private) digital storage area in the Bizverse Cloud that is shared between applications and users of that organization. In other words, a Workspace is a (Cloud-based) container of a particular organization's application data and other information (documents, images, profiles snapshots, etc.) as produced and used by the set of linked web applications and their users. By using web applications that are linked to the Workspace, users place data and information into (and retrieve same from), the Workspace. An organization typically has one Workspace (but may have more). Users are granted access to the portal applications of a specified Workspace - if a user has access to multiple Workspaces, (s)he would have to select the Workspace (using the Workspace Selector Control that is provided in the User Interface of the application), that is appropriate for the particular action such user wishes to perform. Once the Workspace is selected, it is set as the active Workspace and will remain in effect until another Workspace is selected. Users with multi-Workspace access need to be attentive to which Workspace is active to ensure that additions and edits are made to the correct data set.
About Bizverse Communities
A Community is a purpose-oriented collaboratory that is administered and managed by a community sponsor. Bizverse communities espouse a wide range of goals and aims, each community offering a unique value proposition to its members: a portfolio of products and services called Growthware that serves the community's particular objectives.
About Growthware
The term GrowthWare is a generic reference to a wide range of products and services - including intellectual property, tools, instruments, expert know-how and outsourced services that are provided to members of a community; a product/service offering is considered to be GrowthWare when its use by a community member is controlled by means of an agreement, such as a license or contract.
About the Enterprise Bizverse Profile
An Enterprise Bizverse Profile is composed of the Bio-sheet and snapshots of other information that is considered to be relevant for this purpose, such as the organization's Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Governance Framework, Strategic Objectives and so forth. In other words, a multi-faceted information dossier which, among other items of information which includes the organization's history, number and quality of its human, financial, system and other physical resources. It reflects 'who and what you are' as an organization, and thus serves as a reference for your customers, employees, suppliers, investors, media and other stakeholders. It is especially valuable as a roadmap for growth. Appropriate elements of this profile can be selectively shared with business partners and clients via the Bizverse Object Exchange, should you choose to do so.

Community Memberships
A Community Sponsor is the ‘owner’ of a particular community. Each community presents a certain value proposition to its subscribing members. Such value propositions can be intellectual property, professional services offerings, financial products, or some other benefit derived from the collaborative nature of the community. The value items offered by a community are referred to as Growthware. Communities sometimes use multiple Programmes to manage the provision of Growthware to select sets of members in its member base. To get access to the Growthware of a particular community you have to enroll as a member of such community. Community Memberships are the records of the communities you have joined in the past.
Community Engagements
Community Engagements reflect the various reciprocatory commitments that exist between your organization and a particular community. In other words, the specific Growthware. items the organization have obtained from a particular community, and the benefits and obligations associated with each item, such as functions and features, business benefits and service conditions (e.g., fees payable, periodic profile snapshots to be provided, etc. The provision of Growthware is subject to terms and conditions, which may include a subscription fee, and/or the member providing certain periodic data snapshots to the sponsor.
Relationship Events
Relationship Events represent the class of value creating activities that occur between a sponsor and its members. It serves as a 'journalizing mechanism" for recording important interactions between the Member and the Sponsor. The sub types of this class reflect the "kinds of" events that are recorded.
Workbench Architecture
Workbooks & Functions
The Communities & Engagements workbench provides 3 object workbooks at the root level, namely Community Memberships, Community Engagements and Relationship Events. These workbooks do not provide add, edit or delete functionality - object instances can only be reviewed (and snapshots can be taken of instance selections for external processing and object exchange purposes). The instances of these object types reflect actions that were taken elsewhere in the portal - that is, the Community Memberships workbook displays a list of the communities that were joined by the user organization, Community Engagements reflect the various Growthware items that were obtained from each community with the benefits and obligations associated with each item, and the Relationship Events show the event records that are recorded each time the user organization successfully interact with a community sponsor.
You can drill-down from a selected Community Membership instance into its related Community Engagements, and Relationship Events by clicking the Attributive objects drill-down button located in the object instance grid.

Workbench Objects Processing Cycle
Joining a community is normally prompted because the prospective member responds to a Growthware offering that is extended by the particular community sponsor. Membership of the relevant community is required in order to obtain the desired Growthware item (Growthware offerings are published in the public Bizverse Growthware Catalog and/or the private Community Catalog). To obtain Growthware from a sponsor the first step is to join the relevant community (if your organization is not already a member of that community). Once your organization has joined a community, its membership of said community will be reflected in the Community Memberships workbook of the Communities & Engagements workbench.
Once your organization is an active member of a particular community, it will have have access to the catalog of Growthware items it has on offer. This catalog can be accessed using the Growthware Catalog dashboard. Each Growthware item has unique requirements and obligations. When you request an item, the related requirements, terms and conditions will be presented for acceptance. When the requested item has been approved by the sponsor, it is activated in the member's portal, and the newly acquired item is reflected in the Community Engagements workbook object of the Communities & Engagements workbench. A record of the transaction is also recorded in the Relationship Events object (the portal administrator has to assign user rights for the new item before it can be accessed and used by authorized users).
