Functional Capabilities
The functions discussed in this section (“Operations Functions"), require certain system control data to be correct and complete in order for it to function properly. In other words, the availability and behaviour of operations-related application functions and controls (or its functional capabilities, depend on certain control data that is defined and maintained by means of the administrative functions provided by the portal. These include the creation of your organization's Bizverse Workspace, defining user access rights, configuring attachments settings, defining how snapshots should be handled, setting up default user pools for workflows, and configuring certain contact control settings. For more information on the administration requirements of the system, use the Administration Functions link that is provided in the sidebar of this page.
Operation Functions refer to the general "day-to-day' activities that are facilitated by the Enterprise Bizverse Portal, such as issuing requests and responding to offers. The operations supported by the functions of this portal can best be explained by reviewing the application life cycle (note that although the application flow presents a ‘cyclical’ pattern, it does not necessarily mean that everything must be done in a certain fixed sequence – some aspects of operations can indeed be performed ‘out of sequence’):
Create the Enterprise Profile: once the organization's workspace has been registered, use the Enterprise Profile Workbench and the Enterprise Environment Workbench to create and fine-tune its social business profile. This profile is multi-faceted, consisting of a core biographical data sheet (covering elements such as its name, company type, industry classification, business description, contact information, etc.), a definition of its business environment (value chain/network, market segmentation model, value proposition portfolio, stakeholder model, etc.), and various other objects that can be added to the profile as snapshots to give a time-phased view of the organization's growth and development (for example, balance sheets, income statements, financial reports, strategic portfolios, etc.).
Join Communities and get Growthware: with the enterprise's baseline profile established, explore the Bizverse Growthware Catalog for offerings and opportunities that may benefit your organization; evaluate the value propositions on offer, and join communities that offer needed Growthware (use the ROI calculator that are provided with many of the Growthware items to help you do a cost-benefits analysis for the acquisition of the item). The means for joining the community are provided by the Bizverse Growthware Catalog... simply follow the instructions that are provided with the particular Growthware item. You can also view and manage your organization's existing community membership subscriptions by using the functional capabilities provided by the Communities & Engagements Workbench.
Use Growthware to develop the enterprise: Growthware offerings cover a wide range of management concerns and interests, such as innovation management. strategic enterprise development, governance, risk, compliance, financial performance optimization, value-based pricing, solutioning, supply chain improvement, enterprise architecture design, project management and much more. These offerings typically provide knowledgeware ('how-to' content) and tools that can be used to adopt and implement related best business practice methodologies in an integrated and controlled manner - work products and outputs that are produced reside in the organization's private workspace, and as such they continually add to its corporate memory (in other words, what the business knows about itself).
Build and exploit the Enterprise Profile: all Growthware offerings have some relevance to the organization's social business profile, by either directly producing a work-product that contributes a facet of the profile, or indirectly, by serving as an input source for another item that. Snapshot can be taken of anything to provide a time-phased view, e.g., financial performance. Not only useful to external as reflective (who we are), also internal as formative (what we will be). Options are literally inexhaustive, from policies, procedures and job descriptions, to financials, value propositions and strategic objectives. Exchange Information: the Enterprise Bizverse Portal features an Object Exchange that can be used to selectively exchange information with external partners. Its purpose is to facilitate the ongoing 'conversation' between businesses that are engaged in some partner relationship. It can be used to issue offers and requests, and to respond to invitations received from third parties. For example, use this function to exchange debtor information on a scheduled basis with your financial institution for the purpose of debtor factoring finance. It can also be employed to manage the exchange to compliance reporting up and down the supply chain, and even to submit certain returns to regulatory authorities (where the relevant authority has provided an appropriate community that supports this option).

Portal Workbenches
To facilitate operations functions the Enterprise Bizverse Portal mainly employs the workbench application style (the workflow console, gw cat and object exchange utilize the dashboard application style). The user interfaces (UI) of all workbenches conform to a single standard; if you are familiar with this interface standard you will be able to navigate and use any workbench. The same applies for the application's dashboards. Please refer to the xxx tutorial for an introduction to these application constructs (workbenches and dashboards).
The application's workbenches and related purposes are as follows:
