2. Solve. You do not need to provide a picture to support your answer but can if it helps.

3)  Write a mathematical sentence to represent each integer and solve. Don’t forget to answer the question in the form of a sentence after you solve the mathematical sentence. 

a)  In the Sahara Desert one day it was 136°F. In the Gobi Desert a temperature of -50°F was recorded. What is the difference between these two temperatures? 

b) Mt. Everest, the highest elevation in Asia, is 29 028 feet above sea level. The Dead Sea, the lowest elevation, is 1 312 feet below sea level. What is the difference in height?

c) Metal mercury at room temperature is a liquid. Its melting point is -39°C. The freezing point of alcohol is -114°C. How much warmer is the melting point of mercury than the freezing point of alcohol?

d) A submarine is 450 feet below sea level. If it descends 300 feet, where is it now?

e) The temperature went from -7 to +8. How much has the temperature changed?
