1. Use the expression  3x -1  to answer the following questions

a) Create a table of values x = 0,1,2,3,4,5 

b) Graph your table of values on graph paper



2. The grade 7 classes sold pins to raise money for charity. They raised $228. They sold each pin for $4. How many pins did they sell?

a) Create a table of values p = 0,1,2,3,4,5

b) Write an expression that relates the amount of pins sold to the amount raised. 

c) Graph your table of values


3. Write an algebraic equation for each situation. Use the variable “n” for the unknown in each situation. Do not solve the equation. 

a)  I am thinking of a number. I add 10 to the number and end up with 22. What number did I start with?

b) Four more than two times a number is 6.

c) The temperature was 7 degrees Celsius and dropped overnight. The temperature in the morning was -5 degrees Celsius . How much did the temperature drop overnight?


4. Write each equation in words 

a) 8 p + 5 = 13

b) 3w - 2 =13
