Grade 7 Problem of the Week Oct. 9-12

1. a) Plot these points on the grid. A(2,-9), B(0,-5), C(-4,-7), D(-6, -10), E(-8, -10), F(-9, -8), G(-7,0), H(-5,5), I(-6,7), J(-3,6), K(2,3), L(4,0), M(8,-4)

b) Connect the points in the order you plotted them.

2. A) Plot triangle A(-4,6) B(-5,3) C(-7,6)

b) Is translated so that A¹ has coordinates (2,4). What are the new coordinates of B¹C¹? Draw it

c) This new triangle is then reflected over a horizontal line and A¹¹ has coordinates (2,-6). What are the coordinates of B¹¹C¹¹? Draw it

3. Plot the coordinate of the quadrilateral ABCD: A(4,0), B(2,0), C(1,3), D(5,3).

a) Rotate it 90 degrees clockwise using point C. Label the image

b) Translate the image from part A up 4 right 3. Label the new image.

c) If you reversed the order of the transformation would the final image end up in the same place? Prove your answer by drawing the transformation in the reverse order.
