Varsity Game Filmer needed this week @ Hinsdale South!
The Mustangs fell to Lyons Township 35-14 on Saturday.
The team started the game strong with a drive that lasted most of the first quarter, ending with a Red Chua touchdown and a two-point conversion catch by Damen Daly from Luke Potter. Turnovers hurt the Mustangs in the second quarter, leading to a halftime score of 28-8.
In the third quarter, the Mustangs put together another long drive, mixing the run and the pass, capped off by a one-yard touchdown run by Luke Potter. Will Mouser had a solid day on the ground running the ball, helping the Mustangs move the chains throughout the game.
Players of the Week:
Offensive Player: Dario Flores, for his consistent effort and leadership on the offensive line.
Defensive Player: Porter Briggs, for solid play and discipline on the defensive line.
Scout Team Player: Eimantus Jaunius, for his effort and physicality during practice on the defensive line.
Teammate of the Week: Luke Potter, for his leadership and sacrifice in stepping up to play quarterback for the first time this season. Luke and right guard Darwin Gonzalez are the only two players who have started all six games on offense. Luke also plays both ways, contributing as a safety on defense.
On Saturday, the Mustangs played Lyons Township High School in an evenly matched, tight game! The theme of our season has been the remarkable play of our defense. Once again, the defense managed to only give up one score the entire game and kept us in the game! Great tackling and run defense was displayed by our defensive players of the game, Issac Gonzalez and Zay Smith.
Offensively, the Mustangs put together a long drive in the 4th quarter after a successful fake-punt conversion. Running back, Tyler Hodges managed to find the endzone to cap off his great performance. The offensive player of the game was Ben Clancy, who had a great week of practice and has continued to get better every week. The Mustangs lost a tough game by a score of 7-6. We look forward to another opportunity on Friday night against our rival, Hinsdale South!
The Freshman B team travelled to Wheaton on Monday night and competed against the Spartans of St. Francis. The Mustangs played a freshman squad that consisted of players who typically play on a freshman/sophomore combined team based on the structure of their league. While the Bomb squad did not give up, they were challenged the entire evening, ultimately falling 29-0. The B team Mustangs were led by DB/RB Jeremiah Peoples, and WR Landyn Anderson.
