Your time, energy, and commitment last week made a huge difference. Because of your support, we’re able to provide our players with the best experience possible—on and off the field.
The DGS Football program is stronger because of you, and we are grateful for everything you do to help our players succeed.
The Sophomore Mustangs faced Addison Trail’s JV team on Monday. The Mustangs fell behind early, trailing 0-24 with less than five minutes left in the second quarter. The offense then answered back, with Cole Houser finding the end zone for the first Mustang touchdown. Red Chua added the two-point conversion to cut into the deficit.
Right before halftime, with the score at 24-8, Houser sparked the team with a 60-yard kickoff return. Quarterback Luke Potter scrambled and delivered a clutch pass to Jacob Mayorga, moving the ball to Addison’s 10-yard line. Red Chua capped the drive with a touchdown run, pulling the Mustangs closer before halftime.
In the second half, Potter scored on a quarterback sneak to bring the game to 23-30. With just six minutes left in the fourth quarter, Houser powered in for another touchdown, and Potter followed with a two-point conversion to give the Mustangs their first lead at 31-30.
The defense rose to the challenge in the second half, pitching a shutout. Linebacker Gio Vazquez anchored the unit and sealed the victory with a decisive sack on Addison Trail’s final drive.
The Mustangs pulled off a thrilling comeback, winning 31-30.
Players of the Game
Offense: Cole Houser & Luke Potter
Defense: Giovanni Vazquez
Special Teams: Tommy Knagge
The Freshman Mustangs had the opportunity to play their first Friday night home game against Addison Trail! The offense had a breakout game as they scored 30+ points for the first time this season and were led by a rushing attack of Tyler Hodges and Ryan Trame, both scoring touchdowns on the day. Jesse Flakus also threw multiple touchdowns to Jeremiah Gant and Thomas Knagge.
Defensively, the Mustangs played fantastic once again, proving that allowing points will be extremely difficult for opposing teams. To pair nicely with this strong performance, the Mustangs Special Teams also provided 4 points throughout the game from collecting two safeties! Looking ahead, the Freshman squad will have a big conference matchup against the Willowbrook Warriors this Saturday!
The Mustang Freshman B team improved this week to 2-1 in a back and forth battle with the Raiders of Bolingbrook.
The offense was led by C Max Schmidt who started each play with great snaps from center. Touchdowns were scored by RB Jeremiah Peoples early in the first quarter, after a HUGE reception and run by slot WR Jackson Tournis. The defense put up yet another score, for the third game in a row, with a PICK-6 interception by LB Aryan Bajaj.
The Bomb Squad looks to continue their current winning streak when they host conference opponent Willowbrook next Monday afternoon.
