IMPORTANT UPDATE: IHSA CHANGES & SUMMER CAMP CHANGES
PARENTS & PLAYERS,
The IHSA has passed four amendments that directly impact high school football (#12, #13, #19, #24). I communicated in November that these changes were possible, and we have now adjusted our Mustang Summer Calendar accordingly. (IHSA summary link at the bottom.)
Our main concern: Over the last two years, IHSA calendar changes have eliminated 11 days of summer/early-season football work. While we can’t control the mandatory IHSA dates, we can control the days our players are available—so your support in planning is critical.
#13 – NEW “NO CONTACT WEEK” (DEAD WEEK): June 29 – July 5, 2026 (no practices, open gyms, or school-led training).
#19 – SEASON MOVED UP ONE WEEK: Week 0 scrimmage is eliminated; games may begin Aug. 20/21, 2026.
DGS IMPACT: Our schedule changes include Week 1: Aug. 21 vs. West Aurora, and Week 0 vs. Plainfield North is cancelled.
#19 – EXPANDED PLAYOFF FIELD: 48 teams per class.
#12 / #24: Additional football-related changes also passed (combine/showcase guidance and updated ejection review language).
MUSTANG SUMMER CALENDAR: WHAT CHANGED (vs. what we communicated in December)
1) Football Camp / Contact Days (LIMITED)
We are limited to ONLY 20 total football camp/contact days, so we need maximum attendance.
Mustang Football Camp (ALL LEVELS):
June 22–25 (Mon–Thu) / July 6–30 (Mon–Thu)
NO CONTACT WEEK: June 29–July 5
2) Lifting & Speed (Added Week + Time Change)
To create zero conflicts for South baseball and basketball players, we added an extra week and adjusted the time:
June 6 – June 23: 6:30 AM – 8:00 AM
3) Best Vacation Windows (Strongly Encouraged)
To protect our limited camp/contact days, family vacations are strongly encouraged:
May – June 21 OR
July 31 – Aug 9
