The Mustangs faced Willowbrook and came up short, falling by a score of 34-0. The team is focused on improvement and working hard this week in preparation for Friday’s matchup against Hinsdale Central. With players returning from injury over the next couple of weeks, the roster is gaining depth, and the group is eager to continue developing and building momentum as the season progresses.
Offensive Player of the Game: Damen Daly. Damen has been a solid contributor at tight end, showing a strong understanding of the playbook and consistent play. He has stepped up as a backup quarterback and outside linebacker, demonstrating versatility. Damen is also recognized for his hard work and leadership in doing the little things right, such as helping clean up after practice.
Defensive Player of the Game: PJ O’Donoghue. Playing at cornerback, PJ demonstrated strong leadership skills and consistent effort. He showed toughness and commitment by starting both ways against Willowbrook at cornerback and wide receiver.
Special Teams Player of the Game: Michael Danial. Michael has demonstrated consistent effort on special teams, contributing on both kick return and punt team. He is also an important part of the offensive line on the power team and a started on the defensive line. Michael is a positive teammate and continues to work hard to improve this week.
On Saturday morning, the Mustangs battled Willowbrook High School in their first Homecoming game experience, and our boys showed tremendous heart from start to finish! Willowbrook opened the game with a long drive that ate up nearly the entire first quarter and put us down 7-0 early. But our response showed exactly what Mustang Football is all about. The offense marched down the field, led by a series of tough, physical runs from Running Back Tyler Hodges, and punched it in to tie the game at 7-7!
Right before halftime, the offense once again put together an impressive drive, reaching Willowbrook’s 10-yard line. The effort was capped off with a clutch 27-yard field goal from Thomas Knagge, giving the Mustangs a 10-7 lead heading into the break. Although Willowbrook was able to make a few plays in the second half to finish with a 14-10 win, our Mustangs never backed down and battled to the very end.
Defensively, our team played with grit and toughness all game long. TJ Jackson was a standout with a huge interception and return, while also making multiple key tackles that kept our defense strong and steady. On the offensive line, Issac Gonzalez was an absolute anchor at Left Tackle. Time and time again, we ran behind him with success, and he was a big reason our offense was able to move the football consistently.
Our coaching staff couldn’t be prouder of the way our players competed. They showed fight, resilience, and Mustang pride throughout the entire game. This was a great step forward for our team, and we’ll continue to build on this effort moving forward!
The DGS Bomb Squad improved to 3-1 on the season with a dominating 44-6 victory over Willowbrook.
The offense was led by QB Logan McHugh who did a great job of protecting the ball, and getting the ball into playmaker's hands. Some of those playmakers on the offense this week are RB Mikey Stortz, WR Jeremiah People's, and WR Stephen Abini.
The defense did what the defense has done all season so far and TOOK OUR BALL BACK, causing fumbles and interceptions all afternoon. The defense was led by DL Eli Fiorito, OLB Aryan Bajaj, and DB Austyn Santana who accounted for 2 interceptions!!
This week the B Team looks to improve to 4-1 versus a solid Hinsdale Central team. HIT HARD!!!
HIT HARD Principle – INTEGRITY
Doing the right thing—especially when nobody is watching. Integrity means taking ownership of your actions, being honest with yourself and others, and holding yourself to the standards we expect in our program. It’s about consistency—your words, effort, and character aligning whether it’s in the classroom, weight room, practice field, or under the Friday night lights.
