The Mustangs fell to Hinsdale Central this past Friday. After falling behind 13-0, Kabreel Thomas intercepted a Red Devil pass in the second quarter, setting up a Mustang scoring drive in which Red Chua ran the ball in from 7 yards out. Despite the momentum shift, Hinsdale Central pulled away after halftime and controlled the remainder of the game.
The Mustangs have been working hard in practice this week as they prepare to face Lyons Township on Saturday at 9:00 AM at Mustang Stadium.
Players of the Game
Offense: Emmett Hayes, offensive lineman, recognized for leading the Mustangs’ run blocking.
Defense: Michael Danial, defensive lineman, for battling the Red Devils’ offensive line throughout the game.
Teammate Award: Brian Swanson, who stepped up to play both ways after injuries, making significant contributions despite not starting earlier in the season.
On Saturday, the Mustangs battled against the Hinsdale Central Red Devils. Our boys battled all game and showed a lot of fight on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Unfortunately, the Mustangs were outmatched and lost 28-0. A strong performance by our defense kept us in the game for a majority of the matchup. The Freshman squad looks to turn their season around this Saturday against Lyons Township!
A bright spot on Saturday for the Freshman team came when teammate, Jackson Tournis showed up on the sidelines after having ACL surgery less than 24 hours prior to kick-off! Jackson’s love for his teammates and this program was inspiring to see and was a great example of what being a HIT HARD player is all about.
The Freshman B Team fell to Hinsdale Central by a score of 21-0. This was the first shutout the Bomb Squad has suffered this season as the offense struggled to get a drive going. On the defensive side of the ball we struggled to make tackles. As Coach Dufur reminded the players at the end of the game, "If we're not winning, we're learning. We have a lot of learning in how to play HIT HARD football differently this week."
This week, the entire program focuses on TEAMWORK: a shared objective and shared responsibility. That means clear communication, trust in assignments, and finishing plays together—WRs blocking for RBs, DL eating doubles so LBs run free, and everyone straining for the extra yard.
“Eleven as one” is the standard—classroom, weight room, practice field, and Friday night.
