DATA REPORTING

A Special Education data record is to be reported to the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) for students with disabilities or students who are suspected to have a disability.

Special Education data records are only reported for students who are attending a public school, for students placed in a nonpublic school by CPS and for parentally placed nonpublic students receiving special education services from the CPS.

This Special Education data record is reported for all events which occur during a certain time frame over the course of a school year. A count of special education data records is taken by the ODE for the Federal Child Count date (usually October 31st) of a given school year, and this determines CPS’ IDEA-B funding.

Also reported to ODE are data records which, according to a student’s IEP, determine if the student is required to pass the graduation test in order to receive a diploma.
