3 relays team and 2 throwers traveled to Morristown High School for the invitational East Coast Relays. It was the first time in many years that North had qualified athletes to compete at this high level meet. Despite the wind and showers the team did not disappoint with their performances.

The first event of the evening was boys shot put, where Shane J. and Abel G. teamed up to throw a combined 82′3.5″. The duo came back later to finish 14th in the Discus competition with a combined distance of 249′9″.

The boys 4×100 led of the track events with a solid 46.13, which though it was almost a second off their season best, was impressive considering all teams ran much slower due to the high winds.

Senior Bo W. and junior Jelani T. came back from the 4×100 to join Kevin D. and Tom D. in the sprint medley relay, which came up short of their previous season best, but still managed to finish 22nd in a loaded field.

The girls sprint medley relay was not to be denied though, as they claimed a school record, smashing the previous best by 13 seconds, running 4:29.87. The team, made up of 1 freshman, 2 sophomores and a junior, finished 2nd in their heat and each runner ran a personal best, led by Lauren K’s dip under 2:30 in the 800. Lauren was joined by Jamie E., Caroline B., and Tina M. Congrats ladies!
