In this required course, students learn about electrostatic fields, potentials, and Gauss’ law, solutions of Laplace’s equation, electrostatics of conductors and dielectric materials, vector potentials, Maxwell’s equations, and electromagnetic radiation. Content in this course addresses outcomes 1 and 5. Outcome 5 is formally assessed in this course on a two-year cycle.
