Be aware of the dangers of late-season ice!

A sobering story highlighting the dangers of late-season/unstable ice.

It is always a good idea to check the ice thickness before walking out or driving a vehicle onto it. Go with a buddy and keep them in sight at all times. Wear a life jacket, and invest in ice spikes to help claw your way out if you go in. Bring a rope or flotation device to throw to someone who has fallen in. More detailed information and tips here.
