10/25 Update

I have been working hard on Willow Creek trout data analysis the past several weeks in preparation for a presentation of preliminary results from my research. I just gave this presentation at the Alaska Chapter of the American Fisheries Society annual conference in Juneau, AK and it went well.

I went out on an aerial survey of our tagged fish on October 13 and found our fish spread out in Willow Creek, wih most in the lower river and a few out in the Susitna beginning to transit to overwintering areas elsewhere in the drainage. One fish was as far up as the mouth of the Kashwitna!

I will go out on another survey in November, and our final flight will be in December. Genetic sex determination of this summer's tagged fish has begun, and I should finish this up within a couple weeks.

Good luck to the hardy few who are still out fishing in the Mat-Su, and stay tuned for another update next month!
