Agenda
9:00-9:15 Welcome, new coach introductions, updates & opportunities
Happy Poem in Your Pocket Day! Review March meeting content - write a poem for your pocket on a VIP (very important point) from the March meeting (focus: effective instruction for student engagement). If you were not here in March, write a haiku about a coaching success.

What's Your Problem? Problems of Practice
9:15-10:15 "Peeling the Onion" protocol for problem of practice (round 1)
Overview of the protocol
Move into PoP groups, assign facilitator and timekeeper
Problem of Practice Topics:
Administrators do not understand the role of coaches and therefore coaches are misused
Lack of teacher buy-in to coaching
Lack of classroom implementation of coach-provided PD
Coaching responsibilities spread you too thin
The prospect of feedback from "heavy coaching" scares teachers away
Deeper issues (such as classroom management) need to be addressed before the agreed-upon coaching focus

10:25-11:15 "Identifying Strategies"Â protocol for problem of practice (round 2)
Choice: revisit the list above and choose a new problem, OR pose your own problem of practice with a group willing to join you
11:15-11:30 Debrief of Protocols - how did they work? How can you use them?
11:30-11:45 Discuss structure for May 9th meeting
