Walter Waykfeld

  • Mark Butler
  • Passed: July 13, 2016

Walter was a member of the Trimaris Legion and Hastati who loved fighting at wars beside his son, Stewart. He reveled in the camraderie of the SCA, even though he came to the Society in his years of retirement. There was no task in which Walter would not assist. Even if it was cold and raining, he would be happy to help you carry your burden a long way without a single word of complaint. His service, his fighting and his time was always lived with joy.

Mark Butler passed away after a brief but intense battle with brain cancer. During his life he served at several Tampa cultural institutions including MOSI and Lowry Park Zoo where he touched many lives. He leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, June, about whom he would regularly wax poetic, and several proud and beautiful children.

Obituary on Legacy.com for Marion "Mark" Butler

Even the death of Friends will inspire us as much as their lives. They will leave consolation to the mourners, as the rich leave money to defray the expenses of their funerals, and their memories will be incrusted over with sublime and pleasing thoughts, as monuments of other men are overgrown with moss; for our Friends have no place in the graveyard.
