Gilbert Nicholas Knapp, 62, passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at his residence in Florida.Gilbert was born May 24, 1951, in Warren, the son of Gilbert Howard and Ellen Marie Daniels Knapp-Sharkey.Gilbert attended Niles McKinley High School and Youngstown State University, where he studied psychology and was a member of Sigma Alfa Epsilon (SAE) fraternity.He will be remembered for his blacksmith talent, being a member of the Florida Artisans Blacksmith Association (FABA). Gilbert loved medieval history and enjoyed membership with the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) for many years, where he earned top honors in Florida.He is survived by his father, Gilbert Howard Knapp; two daughters, Vickie Wooden and Dulcinea Vaquerano; eight younger siblings, Linda M. Knapp, Richard L. (Cathy) Knapp, Patrick J. (Susan), Brenda J. (Vince) Corcoran, Nicholas D. (Karen) Knapp, David A. (Kimberly) Knapp, Robert G. (Tom Appel) Knapp and John M. Knapp; and six grandchildren.Gilbert was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen M.; stepfather, William J. Sharkey; stepmother, Mary C.
