If you visit a hazel woodland on the west coast of Scotland, you may be lucky enough to see the stunning fruit bodies of the rare hazel gloves fungus. Researchers in Aberdeen weren’t satisfied with looking at the fungus’s fingered fruits however: they wanted to find out what hazel gloves does underneath the bark.
