Thanksgiving 2010 - Installing the Engine

The weekend before Thanksgiving, Jim began to prepare the engine to be installed. The shop that we bought it from had already mounted the clutch to it, but he had to attach the transmission. Once the transmission was attached, the engine was ready for installation. The day after Thanksgiving, Jim began the installation. He had purchased an engine hoist prior to the build and attached the engine and transmission to the hoist and maneuvered the transmission into the engine bay and down through the tiny transmission tunnel, and then lowered the engine all the way into the bay.

Unfortunately, once the engine was in, Jim discovered that the engine mount bolts that had been sent to him were too long and he had to get shorter bolts, and more importantly, had to take the engine and transmission partially out in order to install the engine with the new shorter bolts. This would not be the last time the engine would have to be removed. . .

He also discovered that the transmission was slightly too wide for the transmission mount provided with the car, so he had to craft his own mount out of steel.
