Paint shop - 5/2011 - 2/18/2012

We sent Lola off to be painted in May. It was a long wait to get her back, but she is prettier than we imagined. We chose to have the FFR Mk4 hood scoop molded on instead of riveted as FFR had intended because we wanted a cleaner look. This added a great deal of time and effort on the paint shop's part, but they did a great job. As far as colors, we chose Volkswagon's Tornado Red, the truest red we could find, and Reflex Silver which was designed to go with it. We had stripes put on both the top and underneath the hood and the trunk. We also designed to have the side vents painted to match rather than chromed. Here she is being primed with the stripes laid out.

And here she is ready to go!

Now that we know how the body sits, we had to send her off to have her side pipes and headers altered as they do not align properly with the body. After that plus lights and a few other odds and ends, she will be ready to come home and then off to the DMV.
