Tech Hour Logs
Please use the tech hour form !!! It is your responsibility to fill it out for each tech hour you complete and to turn it in to Mrs. Oseland in the counseling office. Make sure you bring it to each event you work so that you can get your signatures collected. You must have all your tech hours completed and turned in by the end of set strike to get credit. Thank you so much for your assistance behind the scenes to make this show a great one!
You will be invoiced for incomplete tech hours so get to it early and get them turned in!
GUIDELINES FOR TECH HOURS
Every cast member is required to complete 20 hours working in an area they are not assigned. For example, an actor may help in set building or props, a set build team member may help in props or marketing. A parent or other adult may earn up to 8 of your 20 hours for you.
Unfulfilled hours will be billed to your account at a rate of $5 per unfulfilled hour. So if you only earn 10 tech hours you will be billed $50 at the close of the show, etc.
Tech hour opportunities are posted as open calls on VCB. They are first come first serve and spaces are usually limited. If it does not give you the option to “accept” it means it is full.
If the tech hours slots are full please check back later to see if there is a new opening. Do not message the directors asking to be added. There is a limited amount of space for each work session and if there are too many bodies standing around it does no good. Plan ahead to know your weekend schedule and be ready for the postings. This does not mean you can't ask questions or ask for help!
YOU MUST KEEP TRACK OF YOUR OWN HOURS on a Tech Log Form and HAVE IT SIGNED by the adult in charge of EACH session. Tech logs are available on the cast website, in the parent info packet, in the scene shop, D53 and the choir room.
Tech logs can be turned in to Mrs Oseland in the counseling office at any time. You may turn in a partial one or wait and turn in a complete one at the end.
The final day for turning in tech logs is at set strike. NO EXCEPTIONS! We will not go back and enter any hours after this date. We will periodically provide updates on your hours, including at set strike and you may inquire at any time but once the books are closed that is it.
Do not sign up for a slot if you cannot attend at least 75% of the allotted time, for example if the time slot is 9-5 you need to attend at least 6 hours. If you are going to be late or leave early you may sign up but you must notify us in advance for approval.
If you sign up for Tech Hours you are expected to be there. Period. You are taking up a spot that someone else could be using for those tech hours.
We do take attendance/have sign in sheets but that is only so we can keep an eye out for cast who repeatedly sign up but do a no show, track who is present with us for safety and verification later. We do not keep track your individual tech hours. That is your responsibility.
Come to tech hours ready to be productive. If you are just coming to play and not work you may be dismissed without credit and will be asked to work elsewhere in the future.
We need a minimum of 48 hours notice for any change to tech hours. Emergencies and illness happen and those are evaluated on a case by case. Also, we CANNOT track if you are at school or not so if you aren’t at school, you still need to reach out.
