Hi all, my name is Katie! This is my fifth and final year in marching band, and I am so thrilled to be Drum Major for the 2023 season! I had the wonderful opportunity to be a member of the leadership team as Assistant Drum Major last year, and I am looking forward to working with more wonderful people! I played clarinet for three years in marching band previously. I'm an active member in the music program at Kingsway outside of the marching band as well, participating in indoor percussion on bass drum, choir, musical, jazz band on tenor saxophone, and percussion ensemble! I can't wait to experience another incredible season with the best staff, leaders, and band around - I LOVE MARCHING BAND!

Hey!! I am Sophia and I am so excited to be one of the drum majors this year! I marched mellophone for two years and I was the section leader last year. I’m going into my junior year and I am the guitar player in select jazz, as well as a member of the percussion ensemble. I also participate in indoor percussion as a member of the pit. I love everything that has to do with music and I’m looking forward to a great season :)

Assistant Drum Major - Cole Lang

This is my second year in the marching band program and I am super excited for the new season! Last season I marched tenor saxophone and will be one of the assistant drum majors this season. I have played a variety of instruments in my time. I played alto saxophone for one year, trumpet for two, and I currently play bari sax for jazz band and tenor sax for concert. After my first year marching, I knew I had to come back. As assistant drum major I look forward to memorizing all the new names and faces, and helping to make sure everyone feels at home.

Tenor Sax Section Leader - Rob Trout

Hello, I'm Robert Trout, the 2023 Tenor Saxophone section leader. As an incoming freshman, I'm excited to begin my second year of marching band. In addition to marching band, I'm a member of Jazz 1 and Concert Band. I've been playing the saxophone since 3rd grade, exploring various instruments along the way. In 4th grade, I briefly dabbled in the flute before returning to the alto saxophone. Eventually, in 7th grade, I found my interest in the tenor saxophone. While tenor sax remains my primary instrument, I've also ventured into playing the piano and gradually teaching myself trumpet. One quote that resonates with me, as well as with Massaro, is from Mr. Owens, my 7th-grade literature teacher: "Pressure breaks pipes, but it also makes diamonds."

I am currently the manager of our indoor percussion program and play alto in jazz band. I can't wait to have another amazing season with you guys!
