In Nursery they identify, create and follow sequences and patterns in everyday activities. They try and recognise and follow instrcutions in the appropriate order to perform a task.
In Reception they organise, select and use simple language to give instructions. They try and control devices by giving instcutions and identify simple errors
In Year 1 they break down problems to predict it's outcome. They create and record verbal, written and symbolic instructions to test ideas.
In Year 2 the pupils detect and correct mistakes which cause instructions to fail. They change instructions to achieve different outcomes.
In Year 3 pupils learn how to identify repetitions and loops in a sequence. They try and shorten instructions by repeating steps
In Year 4 pupils create and refine algorithms and flowcharts to solve problems
In Year 5 pupils create and refine algorithms and flowcharts to solve problem, making use of features such as loops, boolean values and formulae.
In Year 6 pupils understand the importance of the ordering statements within algorithims.
We run an after school club where we focus on developing further coding skills. Our Year 5/6 pupils get the opportunity to explore IDash Robots
