My phD project is about determination of grinding stones function’s using chemistry tools. The period studied will be at the boarders between the late hunter-gatherers and the first sedentary. Two parts will be conducted: microwear analysis and chemical analysis to link the grinding stones to a specific process (processing food for example). Protein and ancient DNA will be explored. The samples will come from the Ness of Brodgar site.
