6.3. Local and global resilience

New and emerging possibilities for managing global risks

How perspectives vary on the severity of different risks and priorities for action

The success of international civil society organizations in attempting to raise awareness about, and find solutions for, environmental and social risks associated with global interactions

Environmental awareness: is an ideology that evokes the necessity and responsibility of humans to respect, protect, and preserve the natural world from its anthropogenic (caused by humans) afflictions. (Source)

Civil society: can be understood as the "third sector" of society, distinct from government and business, and including the family and the private sphere. By other authors, "civil society" is used in the sense of the aggregate of non-governmental organizations and institutions that manifest interests and will of citizens (Wikipedia)

International civil society organizations: are therefore non-government and non-business organizations aiming to promote the interests of people and the environment on a multi-national scale
