Master Fellow
Minors in Psychology and Applied Youth Development
Served as a Fellow for:
Spartan Strong, Uniquely You with Prof. Myra Toms
Animal Rights and Human Responsibility with Prof. Valerie Houghton
Funny You Mention It with Prof. Andy Shaw
Most memorable experience as a Fellow:
I enjoyed being able to make connections with the incoming freshman and building my network with the professionals that work within the program. A specific memory for me would have to be working during Spring FYS with Professor Myra Toms with a class full of international students and teaching them the ropes of YCP.
Takeaway from the Fellowing experience:
One of the best takeaways that I have learned throughout my time being a fellow would have to be that patience is key and flexibility is what makes someone successful, you need to be able to see what those around you need as well as yourself.
Best advice to prospective Fellows:
Your relationship with your faculty member is important to the "vibe" of your classroom, make sure you are connecting with them as soon as possible to decide what is expected of you. Your students are just as nervous as you are, let them know they aren't alone and that you are always available if you need them. They may not take you up on your offer but just giving them that opportunity works wonders.
