Master Fellow
Minors in Neuroscience and Psychology
Served as a Fellow for:
Sweet and Savory Taste of Science with Profs. Jessica Fautch and Brian Gray
Footprints in Silicon with Prof. Vicki Kline
Most memorable experience as a Fellow:
My most memorable experience was when I had to miss an FYS class to sit for my national registry exam to become a licensed EMT-B. The next class they were all excitedly asking me how it went (luckily I was able to tell them I had passed). It was awesome to realize that they didn't just see me as a resource but that they cared about me too.
Takeaway from the Fellowing experience:
My best takeaway from FYS would be the power of listening. There were a lot of times students would come to me with really challenging situations. Taking the time to hear them and give them space to vent about their circumstances was usually more effective than any advice I could give.
Best advice to prospective Fellows:
My advice to new fellows would be to have fun. Your students will be able to tell if you think something is boring or a waste of time. By setting an example of excitement and enthusiasm your students will follow suit and get the most out of their FYS course.
