Master Fellow
Minor in Neuroscience
Served as a Fellow for:
Energy, Environment, and Sustainability with Prof. Kala Meah
Disney for Grownups with Prof. Dianne Creagh
Death and Rebirth of Society with Prof. Tammy Taylor
Most memorable experience as a Fellow:
Running the tye-dye event with other fellows. It was always a hit and we always ran out of supplies. I loved being able to see students outside of the classroom and watching how creative some of them were.
Takeaway from the Fellowing experience:
My best takeaway had to be flexibility and adaptation. There were times when I had plans for the class and they wouldn't go as expected or time didn't allow for them. It is so important to be able to think on your feet and adapt, especially if your students aren't the most interactive. I also think that when you advertise yourself as a resource, not just for the class, but outside of it, students really open up and realize that you're not a teaching assistant.
Best advice to prospective Fellows:
College is a difficult transition and you could be a crucial part in the lives of freshmen here at York College. I still talk to some of my old students and give them advice about things to this day. It's amazing to be part of the reason why someone continues to stay at York College. Pour into your students' lives and you won't regret it.
