Most memorable experience as a Fellow:

As a fellow, encouraging students to join clubs and organizations was something I was so passionate about. Some of my fellow students have gone to join organizations I’m involved in or have events with. Being able to be in an extracurricular space with them led me to create genuine friendships with the students.      

Takeaway from the Fellowing experience:

Everyone freshman year feels the same way even though it may not be linear. One’s homesickness may last a day where others last a month. Sharing that with students can make the world of a difference.          

Best advice to prospective Fellows:

Practice compassion for others AND yourself! We have all been where our FYS students were. Give them extra kindness and patience.
