Master Fellow
Served as a Fellow for:
The Hero's Journey with Prof. Nikki Herdson
Spartan Strong, but First, Happiness with Prof. Adrienne Brenner
What the Constitution Means with Prof. John Altman
Most memorable experience as a Fellow:
Working with the professors. I was very thankful to work alongside such compassionate and thoughtful professors who were willing to work with me and help out our students in a myriad of ways. I have also put together really fun activities for my classes and with my studio groups with whom I loved getting to spend time. I am also very proud of all of my former students who became FYS Fellows and the people that I helped become Fellows as well.
Takeaway from the Fellowing experience:
One of my best takeaways from being a Fellow is helping out First-Year Students in their first semester. I think that it is very important that freshmen have an experienced guide to assist them in adapting to the college lifestyle. I have built up some amazing relationships with many of my students that still last today and I am very proud of a lot of them. I have always done my best to be there for my students and I can't wait to see what they do next.
Best advice to prospective Fellows:
My best advice for prospective new Fellows would be to understand your students. You are going to come across a wide variety of students with different backgrounds, ways of thinking, etc. So it is very crucial that you can help out your students in the best way possible to ensure that they are comfortable and can get the ball rolling quickly. Some will do great, others will struggle, and if you wish to become a teacher this is a great way to start to understand that you will have to learn to work with people that operate on different levels compared to you. But you must teach them and show them how to thrive successfully in college in the best way that you know how.
