We are very proud of our English Language Learners' perseverance during these times and wish them continued success in the upcoming quadmesters.

ESL Happenings.....

On August 27th and 28th, St. Robert CHS in Partnership with SEPYR, welcomed twenty newcomer students to its NOW Program! During this two-day virtual event, students had the opportunity to learn about the school and community, Canadian law, cyber safety, healthy minds, and extracurricular activities.



On September 23rd, the Immigrant Youth Centre offered St. Robert's English Language Learners a workshop on School Success!

At this workshop, ELLs were introduced to the IYC and the many services and opportunities it has to offer newcomer youth. In addition, students learned valuable study tips to help them achieve success in the Virtual Learning Environment.

On October 21st, ELLs were invited to participate in a virtual workshop: "Getting to Know your Settlement Workers and their Services." At this workshop, students had the opportunity to meet their settlement workers and learn about the supportive services that the Settlement and Education Partnership in York Region has to offer students and their families.


On October 27th and 28th, ESL Core Classes welcomed Mr. Covre, Department Head of Co-Op, into their virtual classrooms for a Co-Op Presentation. Mr. Covre introduced students to the program and to the placements they can take part in to receive on the job training and develop knowledge and skills essential to their careers.

Upcoming Events.....

In November, the ESL Department is looking forward to offering its students a Wellness Workshop, where students will have the opportunity to learn self-care tips and participate in a mindfulness activity!
