Academic Accommodations and University – virtual workshop
All high school students and parents (or other support persons) who have questions or concerns about the transition to university for students with disabilities are invited to attend this session. This workshop is for you, your family and support team to ask questions about the transition to university. York University is funded directly by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities to help students across the province, who are attending any college or university in Ontario.
You will learn about:
Documentation required to access academic accommodations.
The supports and accommodations available through Student Accessibility Services at York.
Transition planning.
This workshop will take place from 7 to 8p.m. on the dates listed below.

Strengthening Transitions to Post-Secondary for Autistic Students and their Families – in person on York University Keele Campus
This informational day is designed for grade 10, 11, and 12 students who are Autistic and planning to attend post-secondary, as well as their families.

For over 20 years, RARC has been dedicated to promoting equity and access in post-secondary education for students with neurodevelopmental disorders. We offer evidence-based services and support to both students and educators across Ontario and all of our programs and resources are free.
Our programs are designed to help students with disabilities (including learning disabilities (LD), ADHD, ASD, mental health) successfully transition to post-secondary education and beyond. While we are housed at Queen’s University, we are funded directly by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities to help students across the province, who are attending any college or university in Ontario.
We are excited to invite you to our upcoming virtual Post-Secondary Transition Information Night designed for Grade 11 and 12 students with LD, ADHD, ASD, and mental health disorders. This event will provide valuable information to help plan and prepare for the transition from high school to post-secondary education. Please feel free to share this information with any students, families or colleagues who would be interested.

Transition Plan Opportunity
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 6, 2024
Check out the Online to Success course which is a primarily asynchronous course that runs during second semester, specifically designed to offer guidance to students with LD, ADHD, ASD and mental health disorders to help them develop the skills they need to thrive in post-secondary environments.
Please note The Regional Assessment and Resource Centre (RARC) is housed at Queen's University but they are funded directly by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities to help students across the province, who are attending any college or university in Ontario.
The RARC also created the Transition Resource Guide that is linked on our school department website.
To be eligible for the OLTS-Ontario program, students must meet the below criteria:
Be in Grade 12 (or doing additional year)
Planning to attend a degree or diploma granting program at post-secondary
Have impairments in accessing the curriculum without academic accommodations
Be diagnosed with a learning disability, ADHD, ASD, and/or a mental health disorder
