Use a 3” x 3” post-it as a template to create a multiple-sided, lidded box out of slabs. Tie together the different sides and lid of the box with connected shapes/concepts.
My box was inspired by the four shows I’ve done with Playmakers, each side inspired by a different show. I tried to use many different methods of surface altering, like water-etching and carving. My handle and top are pretty simple, but on the bottom of the top, there’s a hidden logo of a program that introduced me to theater when I was younger. In general, I’m happy with how my box turned out, but it’s definitely a work in progress, seeing as it’s the first slab box I’ve ever made. Next time, I’ll spend more time making sure all the sides are straight and corners are sharp, and I’d like to find another strategy to cut my top because what I tried this time ended up needing so much cleaning up that it ended up not fitting with the box as well as I would’ve liked it to.
