Two of the most important concepts I learned this semester:
I learned so much this semester, but if I could pick two of the most important, I would choose perspective and showing depth with shading. With perspective, we learned techniques like sighting for angles and proportions, in assignments like the Imitation Drawing and Still Life Studies. For the shading and depth assignments, we learned many different techniques like hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, and controlled doodle, which we used in our final still life drawing.
Assignment that I am the most proud of:
Some of my favorite assignments were the Endangered Species tiles, and Photographing in the Style of Joe Sartore. The photography assignment I found lots of fun because I was able to be creative with light and shadows. The Endangered Species Tile was very interesting to learn about because I had never heard of my animal before. I liked that we got to learn about a species, then teach others using a piece of art.

Art is what I do with the ideas inside my head. If turns into a photograph, drawing, painting, or anything else, it satisfies the need to physically see an idea. Putting that spark onto paper helps me to see the possibilities of what it could become, and turn it into that.
In Art Fundamentals, I hope to not only build on my creativity and artistic abilities but get used to learning art. I plan on taking more art classes throughout high school, and I think that this class will lay down the foundation for a more successful art experience at YHS. My hope is that this will also let future art classes focus more on actually learning the material rather than how to learn the material.
