While doing this project, my biggest takeaway was learning that clay doesn’t like to move fast. I was also surprised by the difference it makes to keep clay off the table for moisture’s sake, and now use that to my advantage with every piece I make. Another thing I learned about during this project was underglaze, which I had never heard of prior to making my bird, but it is such a fun way to add design and dimension to a piece. I hope to learn more about the potential of underglaze and use it as much as I can in future creations!
