Make a slab mug to practice connecting slabs and handles securely. Consciously follow a color scheme when planning and glazing.
With this mug, I explored adding texture through pressing a rope into a slab of clay and using a roller tool to emphasize it. Even though this was my first time adding texture like that, I'm very happy with how it turned out, and I would say it's the most successful part of my mug. I was very careful with the placement of the rope and wasn't sure how it's natural urge to shrink would work with my need for it to stay still, but once I figured out a strategy, I was able to use the rope to my advantage and make an interesting design on the outer walls of my mini mug.
