Purpose:
To understand how a line can be used to create a three-dimensional form
To create a sculpture that considers balance and repetition, variety and emphasis
To consider where artists find their inspiration
Reflection:
From this sculpture, I see that there is line variation in the shapes created from the lines. The use of the lines connecting at the corners makes an emphasis on the shapes. The light from the saran wrap paper creates a positive space. It also draws an emphasis on the shapes shown from the negative shapes.
Prior to this unit, I didn't know that to make a sculpture you need negative shapes to emphasize the focal point. This helped me a lot during the project because I was able to understand the meaning of negative shapes. I also learned that you need a variety of shapes in a sculpture because it will give it more character. Lastly, I learned that positive shapes can emphasize a sculpture.
