ChemVLab+ activities are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards and use authentic scenarios to help students learn to reason like chemists. The ChemVLab+ project helps students develop skills and knowledge through scenario-based activities that use simulations and provide immediate feedback. Using Carnegie Mellon's Open Learning Initiative platform enables teachers to use dashboards to see where students have reached mastery or where they are struggling.
Happy Atoms is a tangible, interactive learning tool that combines a digital app with a physical modeling set. Schell Games wanted to create a better way for students to learn atomic modeling and other fundamental lessons in chemistry. The digital component uses augmented reality for students to see how they react with the molecules they create in everyday life. Schell Games needed a way to create a physical set as well, so it partnered up with Thames & Kosmos to make Happy Atoms a reality.
