Exei integrates with Vonage Voice API to enable real-time AI-powered voice conversations over phone calls. Once connected, users can call your number and speak directly with your AI agent.

Prerequisites
Before setting up Vonage:
You must have an active AI agent in Exei
You must have a Vonage account
You must have credits available in your Vonage account
You must have permission to purchase and configure phone numbers
Step-by-Step Vonage Connection Setup
Follow the steps below to connect Vonage with Exei.
Step 1: Create a Vonage Account
Go to the Vonage website
Sign up using your email address
Complete the account verification process
Once your account is created, you can access the Vonage Dashboard.
Step 2: Buy a Vonage Number & Add Credits
Log in to the Vonage Dashboard
Add credits to your account
Navigate to Numbers → Buy Numbers
Purchase a number from your desired country
This number will be used for inbound calls to your AI agent.
Step 3: Create a Vonage API Application
In the Vonage Dashboard, go to Applications
Click Create a new application
Enable the Voice API for the application
In the application settings:
Paste the Answer URL provided in Exei
Paste the Event URL provided in Exei
Save the application
These URLs allow Vonage to communicate with Exei during calls.
Step 4: Link the Number to the Application
From the Vonage Dashboard, go to Applications
Select the application you just created
Link the purchased phone number to this application
Once linked, incoming calls will be routed to Exei.
In Exei, the Vonage setup screen provides two URLs:
Answer URL
Used by Vonage to route incoming calls to Exei’s AI Voice Agent.
Event URL
Used by Vonage to send call events (status, hang-up, errors) to Exei.
These URLs must be copied exactly as shown in Exei and pasted into the Vonage application settings.
How Voice Calls Work After Setup
Once the setup is complete:
A user calls your Vonage number
Vonage routes the call to Exei using the Answer URL
The AI Voice Agent answers the call
The conversation happens in real time
Call transcripts and events are logged in Exei
The user experiences a natural voice conversation over the phone.

The AI Voice Agent used for Vonage calls follows the voice settings configured in Exei:

These settings are managed under Channels → Voice and apply automatically to Vonage calls.
