By installing the app from the Shopify App Store, your Exei account, AI agent, product catalog, and order data are automatically connected. No manual setup, embed codes, or technical configuration is required.

Prerequisites
Before deploying on Shopify:
You must have an active Shopify store
You must have permission to install apps on the store
No prior Exei account is required (it is created automatically)
Installing the Exei Shopify App
To install the app:
Open the Shopify App Store
Search for Exei
Click Install
Approve the required permissions
Once installed, the setup is handled automatically.
Automatic Account & Agent Creation
After installing the Exei Shopify App:
An Exei account is automatically created
A Shopping Assistant agent is created for your store
The agent is named after your Shopify store
Your product catalog is synced automatically
Order and shipment data are fetched
The agent is trained using the synced data
No manual agent creation or training is required at this stage.
Accessing Your Agent in Exei
To access your agent:
Open app.exei.ai
Log in using the same email address as your Shopify store
Set or reset your password if prompted
After logging in, you will be redirected to the My Agents page, where your Shopping Assistant is already available.
Customizing the Agent for Shopify
You can customize how the AI agent appears on your Shopify store.
To customize the agent:
Open your agent in Exei
Go to Channels → Website
Open the Customize section
From here, you can configure:
Widget colors and theme
Agent name and greeting message
Chat button appearance
Branding and visual elements
All changes are reflected automatically on your Shopify storefront.
Adding the Agent to Your Shopify Storefront
The Exei app uses Shopify App Embed for deployment.
To enable the agent on your storefront:
Go to Shopify Admin
Open Online Store → Themes
Click Customize
Open App Embeds
Enable the Exei App Embed
Save the changes
Once enabled, the AI agent becomes live on your store.
Product & Order Data Sync
The Shopify channel automatically syncs:
Product catalog
Variants and pricing
Product tags
Order history
Shipment and order status
This data is used by the Shopping Assistant for:
Product recommendations
Order status queries
Shopping-related conversations
Importance of Product Tags
Product recommendations work best when products have meaningful tags.
For best results:
Add clear and relevant tags to products
Use consistent naming for categories and use cases
Avoid vague or duplicate tags
Well-tagged products lead to better recommendations.
Voice Support on Shopify
If voice is enabled for your agent:
Voice interactions are supported on the storefront
Language and accent are configured under Channels → Voice
Voice conversations are logged with full transcripts
Voice behavior is consistent with other channels.
All Shopify conversations:
Appear in the Conversations section
Include full conversation history
Support feedback and Instant Retrain
Can be handled using Human Takeover
Are included in Insights (based on plan availability)
There is no difference in tracking between Shopify and other channels.
