Artist Research: Mark G. Adams
Mark G. Adams is a British photographer who is was eager to develop his photography skills and so he introduced to himself a "One Camera One Lens " rule which allowed him to solely focus on the development of his picture taking. He focuses on landscape areas in the countryside, and heavily focuses on reflections as they help him to create pictures he could only dream of. He typically does minimal editing as he doesn't want to take away from the original image.
Image Analysis:
This image is part of Mark G. Adams "Clydach Canal Photography Outing" which he took on 22/09/20, he wanted to focus on the film like simulation of the green and brown of the surrounding area. This shoot was done with X-T20 and Viltrox 23mm F/1.4 and Viltrox 85mm F/1.8 with the X-T20 being a small, compact camera that has an easy time keeping up with much larger ones. These images were then put onto photoshop and cropped/straightened as the colours he wanted to display were already very prominent on the pictures. He also experimented with the reflections of the water creating the mood of tranquillity as for me personally i find the reflections in ripples of water to be very calming/peaceful. I personally like this work as canal side photography is something I have always wanted to experiment with, partly due to the almost magical connotations as something about these images just look out of this world, mainly due to the rippling reflections of the water, paired with a dreamlike look with the overriding colours that dont usually take up the forefront of a picture. With my own photography I will attempt to emphasise the greens of the images and include some reflections in the water of a canal walk in Winsford.

Image Development/Edit:
I originally changed the tint and temperature of the image to highlight the green of the image that Mark G. Adams has, and to create the dreamlike feeling of the images lowered the exposure and increased the contrasts and whites as that makes the more glowing colours appear more prominent.
I also increased the temperature of the sky to make it appear more sunset like as I think that is very key for an image to look dreamlike with the sun bouncing off the canal water.
To ensure the leaves in front of the sky were more in focus then previously, I added a layer mask onto the sky and increased the input while lowering the output, this ensured that the green leaves were the focal point rather then the sky in the background.
To help continue the prominent dreamlike viewing of the image I slightly lowered the exposure and increased the contrast while on the skies layer mask as it made the sky look brighter, yet still realistic.
