Image Analysis:
This image is from Media City & Salford Quays - Manchester which is a shoot by Geoff Moore on the 20th March 2016. He decided to do do this shoot to capture the redevelopment of Media City and how far the booming city has come since 1982 when the docks closed and this project officially began. Moore has experimented with reflection to create a double image of the bridge. For this picture Moore used a Canon 7d Mark2 with a Tokina 11-20mm UWA lens which has excellent optical quality and has been described as a cinema lens, with the key feature of this being exceptional quality in photos. He has also experimented with the rule of thirds as my eye is drawn towards the left and side of the image rather than the centre. He used a 14mm focal length which is an ultra-wide-angle lens as its field of view is extreme. This paired with an f/11 aperture and 0.7 exposure time creates the effect of the buildings illuminating which I think is a nice touch. For me the mood of this image is very surreal as there are so many different areas you could focus on, the windows of the BBC, the light of the bridge which seems to brighten the river, it makes me feel nostalgic as Media City is a place i have been too countless times in my life. Watching it develop and transition into the heart of media for the city of Manchester. I chose this photographer as he is someone who clearly loves his work which is evident in his pictures, he travels around the country to produce nothing but the best and I find that very inspiring. I want to further explore this idea by using this as inspiration to take pictures at Salford Quays and imbed the use of reflection and the rule of thirds.

Image Development/Edit:
I first adjusted the temperature of the image as I want the blue of the sky and river to be more apparent in the image as that's something Geoff Moore likes to emphasise in his images. To help the blue come out more I slightly increased the exposure and contrast as it allows for the blue colour to shine out of the image. I decreased the blacks level and increased whites level as this further helps the blue of the water pared with the sky to shine.
I then added a mask layer to the sky as I wasn't happy with the current colour of it, I wanted to edit that alone without brightening the rest of the image.
With the mask layer selected I increased the exposure, contrast, shadows and whites levels as they provided the light I was searching for in regards to the sky, finally I wanted to change the hue to reflect the colour of the sky i wanted. With these edits i have made the picture look more like the work of Geoff Moore.
