Artist Research Suzanne Saroff: Colour
Suzanne Saroff was born February 24th 1993 in Missoula Montana. She is known for her still life photography in which she actively experiments with distortions and reflections involving everyday household items such as fruits and flowers and changing the perspective with water and a glass. She began her still life journey on Instagram in April 2012, not too mention she has worked with several companies such as Smirnoff, Apple and The New York Times.
Image Analysis:
A majority of Saroff's images distort the formal elements in one way or another, for these images I have chosen the element of colour as I feel all of these images have a focus on the brightly coloured fruit rather then the distortion alone, without captivating colours it would be no where near as effective. This piece is part of Saroff's ongoing still life project. The image was purposefully taken from a high angle presumably on a tripod as that allows the shadows of the flowers to branch off into various directions, otherwise it would all be the same. The colour may have been edited to exaggerate more as they are the first thing my eyes are drawn too when i look at the image. This image is divergent and creates a chaotic tone for me as everything is different shapes, sizes amount of water. Nothing about this is the same and that's what makes it very intriguing to look at. I chose this artist as i love the idea of experimenting with such a chaotic genre of formal elements, allowing the objects to create pictures themselves and are the messenger.

Editing Process:
Due to the nature of uncovered fruit the white paper I used to shoot on by this point was very stained by the various fruit and so the first step was to use the spot healing brush to edit all that out. After that I wanted to make the intricate details of the fruit appear more noticeable so i increased the texture and calrity to allow them to be more of a centre point of the photo. to emphasise the white paper that Suzanne Saroff used I then increased the whites and highlights to have more inspiration dedicated to the original artist. Finally I slightly changed the exposure so the glasses had more of a shine to them and the fruit appeared brighter.
