Shared Drives

Team Drives were created in 2017 as a way to deal with Shared Documents. The current way was such that if a person left a department or school all the documents would have to be unshared. With Team Drives, everyone has same access like a typical Shared Document, but now if someone leaves all you have to do is remove them from the Team. Once that happens all their rights are gone. Team Drives was renamed to Shared Drives last year, just to make things more confusing. 

Below is Google's video on setting it up and some of the basics when using it.  Shared Drives are easy to use and cuts back on a lot of the sharing issues you might have had.
